چکیده
Objective The objective of this research is to compare primary and salvage intratympanic (IT) steroid treatments in terms hearing outcomes patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural loss (ISSNHL). Methods were randomized into two (primary salvage) groups. Both groups received systemic treatment for 2 weeks. group also IT dexamethasone injection three times during the period, whereas only if no or slight recovery was noted at 2-week follow-up. If needed, administered following Hearing analyzed according modified American Academy Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery criteria. Results degrees improvement 3-month follow-up similar Compared baseline, pure-tone average values speech discrimination scores improved by 38.45 ± 21.95 dB HL 34.32% 30.55%, respectively, 36.80 22.33 31.87% 27.88%, (p = .762 .659, respectively). In addition, complete partial rates (67.7% vs. 73.3%, respectively; p .780). group, 18 required because they recovered after treatment. Conclusion Primary ISSNHL led outcomes. summary, recommended prevent unnecessary injection. Level evidence 2.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of combined intratympanic and systemic steroid therapy compared with systemic steroid therapy alone in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) patients with poor prognostic factors. Materials and Methods: Seventy-seven patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) who had at least one poor prognostic fa...

OBJECTIVE To determine the efficacy of intratympanic methylprednisolone injections for treating sudden sensorineural hearing loss. METHOD A retrospective chart review was performed to identify patients suffering from sudden sensorineural hearing loss with no recovery after oral steroids. Patients were given up to three intratympanic methylprednisolone injections at one-week intervals. They we...
متن کاملThe Effect of Intratympanic Dexamethasone with Oral Prednisolone as a Primary Treatment in Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Introduction: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a true emergency that must be diagnosed and treated immediately. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of treatment with intratympanic dexamethasone plus oral prednisolone daily or every other day with that of treatment with oral prednisolone alone. Materials and Methods: Sixty-three patients with SSNHL that had been p...

Objectives: This study was planned to evaluate the efficiency and safety of Intratympanic (IT) injection of methylprednisolone (IT-MP) on idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) patients as an initial therapy, by weighing against the outcome with intravenously administered dexamethasone (IVDEX) treatment. Materials and Methods: A prospective, nonrandomized, comparative study was co...
